Three Principals of Family Owned AEG
President and CEO
James Salter is founder and President of AEG. During his time in eth industry James has been involved in 42 City Wide FTTH projects, representing 2,800,000 homes passed, which also included 16 projects having a significant Smart Grid component as part of the business case. Prior to founding AEG, and after graduating from Georgia Tech with an Electrical Engineering degree, Mr. Salter spent 15 years in the electric utility business and was the President & General Manager of an electric utility. In early 2016, James’ business Atlantic Engineering merged the firm’s engineering division with Actavo (www.actavo.com), a multi-disciplined, multi-national company with a significant presence in telecommunications in the UK, Ireland, the Caribbean, and now North America. Mr.Salter serves as Non-Executive Chairman of the newly formed Actavo Engineering Services, LLC.
Mr. Salter is also the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Council (www.ftthcouncil.org) an industry trade group whose mission is to promote fiber to the home as the ultimate access technology.
Mr. Salter recently founded and is the principal financier of Atlantic Fiber Networks (www.atlanticfibernetworks.com), a dark fiber optic network company which now has built and owns networks in multiple states throughout the U.S.
Vice President of Operations
Jimmy started working for AEG during summers between high school and college, working in construction and field engineering performing various duties. After graduating with a Bachelor degree from The University of the South, Jimmy began his career in the financial management world eventually becoming a principal of a national asset management company in Houston, TX. In 2012, Jimmy joined full-time with AEG as Director of Field Services, eventually moving to Vice President of Operations. Jimmy is married with three children. He spends his free time playing golf, occasionally playing the piano, volunteering at church…. and he sometimes has time for sleep!.
Luke Salter began full-time at AEG in 2009 after graduating from Georgia State University with a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy. He has held a number of positions and responsibilities from aerial groundsman, construction QC, and field engineering technician. A successful transition followed into management positions as AEG's Director of Procurement and Estimating, Director of Contracts, and Vice President of Business Relationships. Luke's current responsibilities include business development, contract management and enforcement, estimating and procurement, and maintaining key relationships within the industry.
